Project Blog Week 3.

Atea: Meeting of the seasons.

-Earth rotation is essential for the changing of the seasons.
-Could have a moving rotating exhibition.
-Change in temperature.
-Different areas of the installation could be put into sections and shows different temperatures
-Meeting of elements.
       -State change.
       -Gradual changes.
-Change in routine.
       -Opposites in routine.

The following installation research show some potential ideas of showing the aspects of the seasons meeting. Change in the installation is a very important aspect and a moving installation would be needed. Working with different projections on different layers would work.

How this type of meeting relates to the boat shed location:
There is a large tree just behind the boatsheds that could extend on my idea of having a large central tree. This tree is a beautiful aspect of the overall look of the sheds and an installation of a rotating tree could compliment this.
Down at the water front is also a prime location for an art installation as people will take walks around the water front when they have spare time and are more likely to stop into look at an exhibition while walking past.

These examples of installations could be an interesting way to show the meeting of the seasons as they play with the idea of visual illusions and gradual changes that embody the 'meeting of the seasons'.

Trees are generally used as the indicator of the change of the seasons as their change is one of the most obvious. Using a big, central changing tree for the installation would be the best way for the public to understand the idea of the 'meeting of the seasons' and how they come together.

First initial sketch ideas on photoshop:

This moving image shows the general idea I am aiming to portray in the boatshed installation. This is my first experimentation of an interactive installation showing the change and meeting of seasons.

A tree could potentially be incorporated into the design as the central structure. This tree will be changing and rotating as light projections change the foliage on it to mimic the season changes.
