I like the idea of these two meeting places being integrated as the overall tranquility and calmness of the sea meeting the sky in a bar would be interesting. A view from inside the boat shed could be composed in a way that makes the boat shed meet the sky and sea in the same gradual transition.

The reflective floors teamed with lights in the ceiling could mimic the sky reflecting on the sea. Another aspect of the meeting place of sea meets sky is the aspect that it is always changing. A moving installation would show this. The flooring needs to be reflective to pick up the changing of the lights in the roof. A somewhat inflatable light sculpture or light weight moving strings would work.

This installation in Vancouver is a set of strong string like material that moves in a pattern. It is interactive through an app that viewers can download. Viewers can then draw on the sculpture using coloured lights.

The general atmosphere and lighting in this artist models work would be ideal for my boat shed design.

Drawing Exercises in Class:

Sunday 27 July 2014

Selected Drawings.

Elevation:

Another elevation using a mixture of textures to create atmosphere. I used an ink pen drawing I did and added water colour tones over top.
Section:

Reflective floors pick up on the colored lights in the ceiling. A quick pen and coloured ink drawing to depict this.

Developed section plan with the use of my artist model inspiration to gather a quick idea of what the ceiling will look like.
Plan:

Perspective:

Perspective drawing showing the water reflective material of the floor. Done by putting water in between two glass panels.

Sculpture.

These light reflections are inspired by the boat sheds at night. Casting a light through the cut outs onto a flat wall makes the image 3D and gives an idea of the dimensions of the boat shed.
