Project Blog Week 4.

Rapid ideas from lesson with LENS class:

Ideas for this weeks space was a vodka bar that supplied ever type of vodka in the world. The walls were to have storage and make each mini bottle visible. The floor has a somewhat 'pit' vibe to it as it is a little under ground. Each individual group seating area is intimate and is a little sunk into the ground.

Further brainstorm of bar ideas:

Essential things needed for a bar :

Atmosphere - Friendly comfortable atmosphere.
                    - Downstairs area is primarily for groups and upstairs has more of a social layout.

Intimacy/ privacy - Seating areas are somewhat dug into the ground
to create a warm, inviting and intimate area for groups of people

Alcohol - Large range of  alcohol. All vodka bar with all types of vodka around the world are available.
              - Mini bottles.
              - To get to the top floor with the readily available alcohol, a elevator pulley system is used so
                it is easily accessible.
              - Computer/ digital menus available at each table can easily order more drinks.
              - Could go against liquor laws as bartenders cannot see how intoxicated people are getting
so there are sobriety tests that can be done on these screens such as thinking games.

Comfortable furniture - Range of chairs e.g arm chairs, couches, beanbags etc to suit different people.

Needs to be social - Rule of no iPhones or androids to be used at the tables.
Anti social and punishments can take place.
-Facebook somehow disabled from the bar.

As I have already done the basic idea of a bar incorporated into my main meeting idea (in the first project), I wanted to make the idea as different to that as possible.
I still want to keep in with the theme of the boat sheds within this bar environment as I feel people would come down and visit this already interesting environment to experience what it already has to offer perhaps at a more exaggerated level.
The over all vibe I am aiming for is rustic with some bursts of color to mimic the bright orange panels painted on the sheds.
Different loft areas make the bar seem snug and intimate.

The splash back on this bar shows a pop of colour and make the alcohol and the product the most dominant feature in the room.

The way this designer has incorporated the primary colours running up the walls is a simple way to add colour and it mimics the colour panels that are outside the boat sheds. This is an idea to keep with the general aesthetic the boat sheds already embody.

Incorporating a loft into the bar design makes the space feel more snug and utilized negative ceiling space that would otherwise go unused.

The overall rustic look of this bar is the atmosphere that I will ultimately be aiming for in my design. It feels quaint and welcoming.
